Intentional Parenting

Standard

I would definitely recommend this book to family and friends looking for practical application and understanding with parenting. As a mother of a teen, this book has been a great eye opener for me. I will say though that if you are looking for a light hearted read this is not your book. The author goes into great detail to ensure thorough understanding but does offer strategy and application technique.

Unglued

Standard

I had the opportunity to read and review the devotional book, Unglued. While I am impressed with the devotional itself, I must admit that I have not read the original book. This devotional is a 60 day read that helps its audience to focus and improve on their emotional being. Each days readings are about 2-3 pages and the writing style is relaxed and comfortable.

Lord, I Give You This Day

Standard

Kay Arthur has done it again! I am a big fan of her books as they all help me in my walk with God. Lord, I Give You This Day is a devotional and while I am not big on devotionals this one is a favorite for me. Each day’s reading focuses on a different topic but all of them are relevant. Whether you are looking for a gift idea or a devotional for yourself, this book is a great one to pick up.

Joe Girards 13 Essential Rules of Selling

Standard

This book was ok. Most of the rules in this book are probably more directed towards someone just getting into selling. I, personally, did not find this book to provide anything that I had not already read or heard.

Being a previous car sales man, Girard’s examples all tend to focus on his experience and how he applied his rules to the car business. Overall, if you are new to selling then this may be just the book you are looking for. However, if you have been in the business I am hoping most of the contents in this book are nothing knew to you.

A Sudden Glory

Standard

This is a wonderful book which I really enjoyed and gained much from reading. In the book A Sudden Glory by Sharon Jaynes, the author focuses are references the verse, “In him, we live and move and have our being” Acts 17:28.
A wonderful thought provoking book that often left me with a sense of calmness and peace. I would read a chapter each night before bed and found it to be a great source of strength and focus at the end of a long day.

The Reason

Standard

Who doesn’t love a good book? The Reason by William Sirls is what I consider a perfect read. Being a big believer in God and the assumption that all things happen for a reason, this book was a great read. It is an uplifting novel full of hope which we can all use more of every now and then. The story line flowed really well and keeps you interested and wanting to read more. Whether you are looking for hope or just in search of a great christian read this book might just be what you need.

The Purpose Driven Life

Standard

Most of us who have been in the adult world for several years or more, have already heard of and probably read The Purpose Drive Life by Rick Warren. If you have not personally read it then I bet you know someone who has. This book was quite the best seller for some time and for good reason.

We all wonder what we are put here on this earth to accomplish but often we are left with no direction. Warren has written a fantastic book that appeals to people of all ages. If you missed out on this book the first time around, do not hesitate to grab a copy today. It is life changing!
